Japan’s First Commercial Jet Production Museum

Aichi Prefecture has long been at the forefront of development and production of Japan’s aerospace industry.

One of the world’s greatest fighter aircraft, the formidable Mitsubishi Zero was built in Aichi, as were a number of other wartime aircraft. Many of Japan’s Self Defense Forces’ jet and turboprop aircraft including helicopters are built and maintained in Aichi. Major components including the main module of the International Space Station, satellite launch rockets and other space hardware is also tagged “Made in Aichi”.

Another project fast gaining the attention of the aviation industry is Japan’s first commercial jet airliner project, the former MRJ, (Mitsubishi Regional Jet) now known as the SpaceJet project. The SpaceJet is a twin-engine regional jet with seating for 70 to 90 passengers. Offering a range of over 3,500km and a top speed of 905km/h, the SpaceJet was first flown in November of 2015.

To celebrate this exciting project, Mitsubishi and their partners have established a special museum dedicated to the technical development and manufacturing of the exciting Mitsubishi regional SpaceJet aircraft program.
