Festivities and floats come together

The Nomi Shimmeigu Shrine Festival is known as one of the city of Okazaki's top three major festivals. Rituals such as the portable shrine procession and entry to Nomi Shimmeigu Shrine's premises by gigantic parade floats remain much the same as they were during the middle of the Edo period. The festival meets its climax when the eight floats are lit up at once with paper lanterns before making their way toward the shrine with large lanterns on poles leading the way as they pass through all the different towns.
