Honor and prestige at stake, flawlessly controlling beautiful parade floats

This event is held on the fourth Sunday and preceding Saturday in September to coincide with a regular festival at Atago Jinja Shrine. Men pull giant, approximately 5-ton parade floats around, course correcting and turning the floats using only their physical strength. Other spectacles include the musical accompaniments' clear musical tones, paper confetti thrown from atop the floats, and the spirited shouts of the men as they give their all to turn the colossal floats with sheer manpower. Then there is the biggest of the floats, which to look at is simply awe-inspiring. Watch with amazement at how deftly the floats are handled so as not to fall over or crash into one another—skill which means everything to the men as it imparts to them honor and prestige.
