The Mystical Mountain of Horaiji Temple

There is something truly mystical about the atmosphere around the holy mountain of Horaiji. The whole mountain is tranquil, with unspoiled ancient nature, it reeks of spiritualism and history, and of long forgotten ways. Mt. Horaiji and its temple are considered power spots, -places of great spiritual and natural powers. Located 695m above sea level on the remnants of a 15 million year-old volcano, the area is designated as a National Natural Monument and a special scenic spot.

ACCESS

Access by public transport

•From Toyohashi Station (board the JR Tokaido Main Line or Meitetsu Nagoya Line from Nagoya Station), take the JR Iida Line to Hon-Nagashino Station. Alight and take the Toyotetsu Bus bound for Mt. Horaiji Peak ([鳳来寺山頂] Horaiji Sancho). Alight at the final stop then walk 5 min. to the temple and shrines.
