The vivid colors of autumn invite you to take in a warm moment

Mt. Horaiji is known as a top place to enjoy splendid autumn leaves and is also known as an area inhabited by the oriental scops owl, the bird of Aichi Prefecture. The mountain itself is famous for its beauty and designated a national monument as it offers wonderful Japanese nature.
It is also known as a spiritual mountain with the old temple of Horaiji Temple established halfway up around 1,300 years ago. A lengthy 1,425-stone-stair pathway leads to the temple from the foot of the mountain and is home to an 800-year-old, 60-meter-tall cedar tree resembling an umbrella, which is the current tallest such tree in Japan. Upon ascending the almost innumerable steps, you come to a clearing with a view of the Okumikawa region's abundant and healing nature.
The temple's Niomon Gate was erected by Japan's famous general Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1651 and is designated an national important cultural property.
