The city of Chiryu's pinnacle autumn festival

During the Akiba Festival, groups of young men from six towns parade around the streets carrying wooden tamabako chests on their shoulders and singing. In the evening, each group enters Chiryu Jinja Shrine in turns, and makes an offering of handheld cannon fireworks in a courageous act. They create a circle, holding the cannons with both hands from which sparks and fire soar over seven meters into the air, creating a wondrous spectacle.
