A Beautiful Iris Garden

The Kamo Shrine is believed to have been built in the year 729 CE, and as such has deep traditions and a long history. It is said that when Tokugawa Ieyasu and his armies marched to Enshu, and when heading for the Battle of Nagashino, he stopped by this shrine and prayed. At the entrance to the shrine there's a vast garden with about 37,000 stubs of Hana-Shobu Irises of over 300 species. From late May to mid-June, the Hana-Shobu Iris Festival is held to celebrate the blooming flowers.

Access by public transport

-On May 27 and 28, please use the Temporary Shuttle Bus Toyotetsu from Platform 6 of the Toyohashi Station Bus Terminal (East Side) (approx. 40 min. ride - please see ticket information above).

From Toyohashi Station to Kamo Iris Garden (approx. 40 min. and about 5,000 yen)
From Toyokawa Station to Kamo Iris Garden (approx. 20 min. and about 3,000 yen)
Access by car

Approx. 10 min. eastwards from Toyokawa I.C. of the Tomei Expressway via routes 151, and 499.
