Aichi Prefecture's Oldest Lighthouse is a Special Place for Lovers

"The symbol of Mihama-cho goes by the official name 'Noma Cape Lighthouse.' Erected in 1921 and standing at 18 meters tall, this is Aichi Prefecture's oldest lighthouse.
In 2008, the lighthouse was renovated and the light source was replaced with LEDs, resulting in a reduction in output from 15,000 cd to 590 cd, and a drop in the effective range from 25 km to 15 km, nevertheless, the lighthouse is now better at preventing disasters; and it's power-saving.
It has gained attention for its style, like a lighthouse that would typically appear in a cartoon. Recently, the lighthouse has become famous as a sacred place for lovers who place padlocks (sold at the Food & Health House near by) symbolizing eternal love on the iron fence around the lighthouse, and ring the Bell of Bonds.
The nearby bench provides the perfect spot from which to marvel at the white walls of the lighthouse set against the waning sun over Ise bay."
